Deebot is one of the most advanced models of vacuum cleaners that you can get right now. But that doesn’t make it perfect. Like any other vacuum, it can output issues. For example, the Ecovacs Deebot vacuum not charging is one of the common complaints. So, what explains this issue?
The Deebot battery not charging issue can come up when the robot is off; the vacuum cannot connect to the pins, an unplugged charging dock, and an overly discharged battery.
There can be other reasons too. Nonetheless, if you want to know more about why the Deebot won’t charge and fix the issues, you should keep reading. Why so? Well, there are quick fixes discussed below!
What To Do If Your Deebot Vacuum Not Charging?
As mentioned earlier, there can be many reasons for Deebot not to charge. And the good news is that each has a simple and easy troubleshooting process.
Let’s explain go through the steps to get your vacuum up and running again:
1. Make sure that Deebot is on
The first thing that you should do is check whether the vacuum is on. Deebot will take charge when it is turned off. And you might have turned it off and forgotten about it.
Open the upper lid and see whether the power switch is turned to the right. If not, you need to move it to get the vacuum on. Remember that the power LED will light up when the vacuum is on.
Nonetheless, if it was not getting charged up for being turned off, put the Deebot on the charging dock and check whether it is charging.
2. Plug the dock into the wall if it is unplugged
Your vacuum will not receive any charge from the charging dock when the dock is not receiving any power. Maybe you have unplugged it to clean the area. Or perhaps the switch on the wall outlet is off.
No matter the case, you must ensure that the charger dock is connected to the wall and receiving power.
3. Clean the pins on the charging dock
Sometimes, the vacuum will not charge even when the charging dock receives power, and the Deebot is on. Wondering what could the reasons be?
Over time, dust and debris will settle on the ports, hindering Deebot from connecting correctly. Remove the vacuum from the charging dock and unplug the cord from the wall.
Then, get yourself a dry and clean cloth. Use it to clean the pins thoroughly. Do not push too hard or use any liquid cleaning solution.
Once you are done cleaning the charging pins, plug them into the wall outlet. And put the vacuum back in the dock and see whether it charges.
4. Activate the battery
Still not charging? Chances are that the battery is completely drained. Batteries in this stage don’t want to take charge easily. And Deebot will fail to make the cells charge in the usual way.
So, what needs to be done in this case? Well, you will need to reactivate the battery. To do so, first, make sure that the vacuum is on. If not, turn it on by moving the switch.
Then, ensure that the charging dock has power. Plug it in if necessary. Afterward, you have to place the Deebot on the charging dock. But do not keep it there for too long. Set a timer for 3 minutes and remove the vacuum when the timer rings.
Allow it to charge for 3 more minutes after removing it from the dock. Repeat the process once more, and the battery should start to receive charge usually.
5. Replace the built-in battery
If the Deebot is still not charging, the built-in battery might have gone faulty. You see, the lifespan of Deebot batteries is anywhere from three to four years. However, the battery’s health can degrade quickly when you put too much stress on it.
But the good part is that you can replace the battery. And the steps to do is pretty easy too!
First, you have to get a proper Deebot replacement battery. Check the compatibility by matching the battery with the vacuum’s model.
Then, remove the screws holding the battery pack in the vacuum. Get the old battery pack out and install the replacement battery in place.
Finally, put the screws in the slots and tighten them up properly. Do not overtighten the screws, though. You will strip them. The vacuum should now function like it’s brand-new.
What Are the Signs of a Battery Failure for Deebot?
Although the built-in battery should last anywhere from three to four years, it can fail earlier. Some signs can tell you when to get a battery replacement. They are:
- The vacuum robot turns off randomly in between cleaning sessions
- Device not charging
- The robot not turning on
- Vacuum not holding a charge for long
- The battery charges up quickly
How To Do Deebot Battery Reset?
Do you see your Deebot vacuum battery problem, such as not holding a charge or not charging properly? If yes, you should do a Deebot battery reset to fix it.
Please follow my guidelines to reset your Deebot battery:
- Turn off the Deebot: First, you need to power off your Deebot vacuum cleaner.
- Remove and reinstall the battery: Next, you’ll need to remove the battery from the vacuum cleaner. Once the battery is removed, just wait for about a minute and then reinstall the battery again.
- Recharge the battery: Now, plug the Deebot cleaner into its charging dock. Please allow the Deebot to charge for at least 12-24 hours.
- Run a cleaning cycle: Once fully charged, run the Deebot vacuum until it completely depletes its battery. Depending on your specific model’s battery life, this could take a while.
After the Deebot cleaners battery has been completely depleted, please recharge it again for another 12-24 hours. However, to reset your Deebot cleaner, you may see my previous guideline.
Why Can’t My Deebot Find Its Charging Dock?
Ecovacs has integrated an intelligent charging mechanism into Deebot. It will run to the charging dock when the battery is low.
However, sometimes, this issue might not work as intended. And when that happens, you need to go through these steps:
1. Ensure the vacuum can access the charging dock
Did you keep the charging dock in a room that has closed doors? In that case, Deebot will not be able to make it to the station when it needs to charge.
So, you must ensure that the station is easily accessible by the vacuum.
2. Clear out all the obstacles in front of the dock
The charging dock area should be completely free of obstructions. Ensure that it has 0.5 meters of free space on both sides and 1 meter of space in the front.
Also, get rid of any reflective objects around the charging station.
3. Keep the charging dock on
Is the charging station plugged in? If so, is it getting power from the wall? The dock not getting power is another reason Deebot might not find the charging station.
So, check whether the charging station is turned on.
4. Set the vacuum in auto mode
Manually set the Deebot vacuum on the charging dock. Once it starts to receive power, you should hear a prompt, such as “I am starting to charge.” When that prompt activates, you need to press the Auto button.
That will enable the vacuum to remember the location of the charging dock. And it will automatically make Deebot run to the charging station when it is out of battery.
5. Clean the sensors of the robot
The sensors are the most important part of a robot vacuum cleaner. Check whether the sensors of the vacuum cleaner are dirty.
If so, turn the Deebot off and clean the sensors with a dry and clean cloth.
6. Relocate the charging dock
Deebot will have trouble getting to the charging dock if it is placed in an unfavorable position. For example, if kept on a carpet, the robot can not reach the charging station.
In such cases, you should relocate the charging dock. So, where should you place the charging station? Well, hard and flat surfaces are optimal locations.
7. Keep the lights around the charging dock on
Dimmed locations are hard to access for the Deebot vacuum. So, if it is not making its way to the charging dock, chances are that the station does not have enough light.
Turn the room’s lights on and make it easy to see.
Conclusion
You don’t have to do much when the Deebot vacuum not charging problem comes up. All you need to do is go through a few simple steps, and it will start to charge correctly again.
And if you want to ensure that the problem does not occur again, take proper maintenance steps. That is, clean the sensors, keep the charging dock clean, monitor the charging sessions, and keep the pins clear of debris.
